I’ve Sold 25,000 Books and COUNTING!!!

Over the weekend I discovered something… I’ve sold almost 25,000 BOOKS (a combo of several of my titles)!!!

I was shocked!!

I self-published my first book in March 2010 as a PDF on my website. I didn’t even know you could sell books on Amazon at that point. I was just doing what I knew to do, how I knew to do it at the time.

In December 2012, I re-published those two books on Amazon, and I’ve added 14 books since then (with 2 more coming this year!).

I’ve never had an agent. I’ve never had a publisher.

I am truly a self-made author.

It’s the Only Thing I Was Ever Really Sure About

I’ve been running an online business since 2007, and there have been dozens of iterations of that business over all of those years.

I have test-driven so many different dreams and desires and versions of myself.

I’ve been a journalist, a magazine editor, a freelance writer, a creative wellness coach, a book editor, a story coach. I’ve created a t-shirt line, a blog, dozens of digital courses, a podcast, a TikTok (and YouTube) channel, hosted workshops, taught in-person classes. I’ve built things and refurbished furniture and gotten certified in interior design.

And let’s not forget the 16+ books I’ve written and self-published.

I’ve tried it all. I’m multi-passionate AF and damn proud of it.

Hitting A Dream Milestone

I just got back from an 8-day trip to Las Vegas and discovered I hit four figures in book royalties for this month so far (and the month isn’t even over yet!)!! That means my cut of my book sales for this month is over $1,000!

This is a dream milestone for me. I dreamed of being able to make money like this from my books way back in 2010 (and even before) when I self-published my very first book.

I used to make four figures from my books in a year, and now it’s happening in a month.

I couldn’t be more thrilled! Not only to be making a livable amount of money from my books but also to be getting my books into more people’s hands and helping them to manifest and create their dream lives too.

The truth is, this is the first time in my 13+ year self-publishing career that I’ve really put the majority of my focus on my books–on writing them, self-publishing them, promoting them, and selling them. Before now, I’ve always had a million different things going on, all with different desired outcomes and end results.

Now, I just have this: write books, sell books, change lives. Or, really: write books + sell books = change lives.

You Won’t Always Hit Your Goal But Swing the Bat Anyway

Almost 100 days ago, I set the goal of finishing and publishing a new novella by the end of this year (I also set a goal of finishing my interior design certification ✔️).

And 100 days later, I’m not landing where I thought I would. In a really, really good way.

Early into the 100-day challenge, I was feeling stuck. I had this screenplay I’d written a few years ago, and I wanted to turn it into a novella so I could publish it.

It seemed like the easiest story to choose since I had the screenplay to use as an outline. All I had to do was write the novella version, revise and edit it, and then publish it. I’ve done it before.

Only problem was, I couldn’t get myself excited about the story.
