“Business Before Pleasure” (and Other Limiting Beliefs) That Could Be Holding You Back

We’ve all been taught so many BS limiting beliefs that we sometimes don’t even realize that’s what’s going on. We spout these societal sayings off like it’s the truth when really it’s just total BS made up by another human who chose to believe that for themselves and then spread it around like wildfire. But that doesn’t make it the truth.

Case in point, a VERY common belief MOST people have is: Business before pleasure.

How many times over the course of your life have you been told, said or thought the words, “Business before pleasure?” My guess is, MANY.

Isn’t It Time You Stopped Buying Into The Bullshit About What It Means To Be ‘Healthy?’

I think some of the best writing comes from our triggers. There is power in writing about and sharing things that cause you to have an emotional charge.

This is one of those posts for me.

It came from a MAJOR trigger that I have, and this morning, that trigger was set off by a single sentence.

The sentence said: “We might even have to go into a government-funded nursing home because of our failing health.”

Now, none of what I’m about to say has anything to do with the author or even the book itself. In fact, the author was only giving an imagined for-instance example about retirement.

What triggered me and set me off was that sentence, whether real or an imagined example, is what’s wrong with the way people think about health and aging.

Every Queen Needs A Chariot

I’ve wanted a Jeep since I was a kid. I just always knew that was my car brand. I always believed I would drive a Jeep when I grew up.

Well, I grew up and I still didn’t have my Jeep.

Most would panic or start telling themselves nonsense like it’s not available for them, they can’t have it, it’s not meant to be. But I just continued to believe.

Then three years ago, I was at Auto Zone buying something to fix my previous vehicle (a 2002 Chevy Cavalier) and I saw this Jeep keychain.

It’s When Things Go Wrong That You Must Not Quit

This morning I received an incredibly uplifting text message from my friend, author, Thomas Russell (go listen to his radio show and podcast Life Without Limits) and I wanted to share with you my favorite line from that message: “it’s when things go wrong that you must not quit.”

The whole message was amazing but this line struck me the most, because it’s SO true.

When things are going wrong, falling apart, feeling like they’re not working, never gonna work and you’re just wasting your time, it’s easy to quit. To throw in the towel and just say, “screw this.”

It’s what most people do.
